Question: "My husband and I ride double on a quad so would I be considered a nonrider?"
Answer: "You are allowed to ride double only if you have a manufactured second seat on your quad and you will be considered a full-participant at the full price. The forest service charges us for every person riding on the national forest, not every ATV riding."
Question: "We want to camp out at the rodeo grounds. When can we begin to check in
with our trailer and where do we go?"
Answer: "All campers, RV'ers that want to stay at the rodeo grounds can check in Tuesday afternoon from 12 noon on. There will be someone to meet you at the entrance to help you get situated. The cost to camp at the rodeo grounds is $13.00 per night for RVers and $8.00 per night for Tent Campers. That fee includes potable water at the rodeo grounds, an RV dump station, pumping of RVs and filling up water on Thursday, and shower stalls on site. This camping fee can be included with your registration fee or mailed to us at: AZ Outlaw Trail Jamboree, PO Box 250, Eagar, AZ 85925 if you want to guarantee a spot, or can be paid when you arrive."
For earlier arrivals, please call ahead to make arrangements.
Question: "Do we need 1 or 2 applications sent in?"
Answer: "Each full participant needs to fill out and sign a
Registration Form. A non-rider can be included on the same registration form as a full participant. Or, each rider and/or non-rider can
register individually online."
Question: "Will the ATV's need to be "street legal" for the
jamboree"
Answer: "No. Both the Town of Springerville and Town of Eagar and Apache County law enforcement agencies are working with us on the jamboree and will not ticket non-street legal ATVs that are participating in the jamboree. It has come to our attention that the new law created for non-licensed ATVs to be driven on the state and city roads does NOT provide a provision for UN-licensed operators. Therefore, all parade and trail riders must be licensed operators. This oversight will be corrected for next year. Another bit of news is that our organization hired a lobbyist with the help of Mike Anable, and have passed a bill that will go in effect the end of August. This new law will allow both towns and county to change their individual laws to allow ATV riders to pull into town, stay at our local hotels, drive their ATVs to get their groceries, gas, meals, etc., and then follow certain designated routes to access our main ATV trail heads. We are working hard with these agencies to make this come about in the near future."
Question: "Will kids be able to go on the rides on their own ATV? What are the guidelines
for a child riding their own ATV?"
Answer: "The minimum age for an ATV rider is 8 unless the youth is on a "Pee Wee" bike of 51 cc or smaller and with wheel sizes of 12" maximum. Any youth under 16 must have a helmet and eye protection at all times while riding. A "Pee Wee" rider (ages 6-11) must be on a 90cc or less ATV 4-wheeler (youth must fit machine at discretion of the Ride Master). A "Junior Class" (age 12-15) rider must be on no larger than 300 cc 4-stroke max/200cc 2-stroke max (youth must fit machine at discretion of the Ride Master). These regulations will be enforced per our insurance carrier."
Question: "Who will be leading the rides?"
Answer: Many area locals that have ridden these mountains for years are helping in creating the spectacular trails and will be your guide for the day. These great volunteers are well informed about the history of the area and some are even direct descendants of the "Outlaws" we are spotlighting! All Ride Masters and Tail Gunners are experienced ATV riders familiar with the trails and have recently had safety training classes.
Safety will be the first concern for all participants throughout the
jamboree event.
Question: "We are new ATV owners/riders. Should we participate in the
jamboree"?
Answer: Of course! Just signup for the easy, shorter
trails, and inform the Ride Master that you may need some assistance. The Ride Masters will be glad to assist you if needed. Safety first - so don't ride beyond your comfort level. We strongly recommend all new riders to take the ATV Safety Instruction class offered on Wednesday at 1:00 pm.
Question: "Are sport quads welcome to ride the
Jamboree trails?"
Answer: Yes, but they need to meet the legal requirements to ride in the forest; such as a forest-approved spark arrestor. This goes for all ATVs, not just the sport quad riders.
Question: "Are there more
sponsorship opportunities available, or vending spaces?"
Answer: Yes, please
contact us at: (866)-520-3569. You can also download a sponsorship package by
clicking here.
Question: "Are helmets required?"
Answer: Yes, our insurance requires proper riding gear for all participants.
Question: "My question is not listed here. Who should I ask?"
Answer: Please contact us at: (866)-520-3569.
Question: "Can dirt bikes, motorcycles, golf carts, Polaris Rangers or Kawasaki Mules ride the trails during the Jamboree?"
Answer: "The Jamboree committee defines an ATV as "an All Terrain 3 or 4 wheel vehicle". All ATVs must be able to go in excess of 35 miles per hour to keep up with the group on some of the rides. Because these rides are "guided trail rides". We don't think dirt bikes will enjoy being held back with the group. Anyone is welcome to join us on Saturday at the ATV rodeo and other activities."
Question: "Why is the Arizona ATV Outlaw Trail being held
September 7-11?"
Answer: "Many things were taken into consideration when we planned this event over a year ago. 1. Due to the severe drought situation the state of Arizona has been, the forests are often shut down during June through the middle of July, so those months were definitely out. 2. September is truly the
most beautiful time of year in the White Mountains. The dust has settled with the summer monsoons, the flowers are out, everything is green, and most importantly, we don't have the threat of having the forests closed down due to fire restrictions. 3. Another consideration was the many summer events planned throughout the communities
of Eagar, Springerville, St. Johns, Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside and Alpine. We did not want to interfere or compete with many annual events that are put on and sponsored by many of the same good people we will put together daily rides just for your group! As the jamboree grows and we get more trails approved, our plans have always been to start the jamboree on Labor Day and run it through Saturday. "
Question: "What is the cost of the Jamboree based on?"
Answer: If you are concerned about the cost of this year's jamboree, please realize the following:
1. There is a great value for what you are paying for - jamboree t-shirt, meals, map, entertainment, fireworks, etc.
2. This jamboree is helping us accomplish one main mission - and that is getting permanent trails in the White Mountains all the way from Clifton/Morenci to Payson! This will impact the whole state of Arizona as well as our close New Mexico neighbors. We have had to hire a legislator to pass a bill for the State of Arizona that will impact all OHV riders in the state and has cost us several thousand dollars. If we do not get the support from ATV enthusiasts all over the west, it will take us years to raise the money to make our dream come true. We promise you an incredible time as you support us in this effort. Every one of our awesome volunteers - some putting in hours and hours over the last year - are paying their way to this jamboree because they believe in what we are trying to accomplish. We hope you can see it too!
Question: "Can I just show up to the Jamboree and participate for the rides without paying a registration fee?"
Answer: Only registered riders may participate in rides. We know that there are many people out there that are planning on just showing up at the jamboree and riding around on the mountain without being paid participants. Please be aware that the trails that we have gotten approved for the jamboree by the Forest Service are for the jamboree participants only at this time. Riders who are not jamboree participants are not allowed to ride on horizontal forest roads without being “street legal” in the state of Arizona. Other trails, like the Apache Railroad Holdup, will only be open for the jamboree participants. We do not want anyone coming to our area (especially from out of state) and being fined or limited in where they can ride. However, we encourage everyone to participate in the other Jamboree events such as the
raffle, rodeo, atv expo, etc.
Question: "Can I ride my ATV in town?"
Answer: "Please be aware that once you park your vehicle at your hotel or
RV space, you will be able to ride your ATV to patronize local businesses as needed during
the Jamboree. That means you can do your grocery shopping on your quad, you can drive to the
restaurants on your quad, fill up your ATV at the gas stations, and just explore the towns on
your ATV!!! So Out-of Staters and non-licensed Arizona ATVs have the ability to ride
around town as needed during the Jamboree! Our way of saying: "Welcome to Round
Valley -- a real ATV-friendly community!"
